Welcome to Hooked on the Game

A latecomer to golf from another sport, now a mid-handicapper documenting how far I can realistically progress — without chasing numbers, gimmicks, or perfection.

Who This Site Is For

If you're looking for another blog promising you'll shoot par in 90 days or selling you the "one secret" the pros don't want you to know, this isn't it.

Hooked on the Game is for:

  • Mid-handicappers who want to improve but live in the real world
  • Recreational golfers who play for the love of the game, not just the score
  • UK golfers dealing with wind, rain, and municipal courses (not pristine Florida tracks)
  • Adult learners who came to golf later in life from other sports
  • Anyone tired of unrealistic golf content that doesn't represent how most people actually play

What You'll Find Here

This is a documentation of my journey through golf — the good rounds, the frustrating ones, the lessons learned, and the honest reality of trying to improve while balancing work, life, and limited practice time.

Blog Posts

Real experiences from UK golf courses, equipment reviews from a mid-handicapper's perspective, and reflections on what it's actually like to chase improvement without obsessing over numbers.

YouTube Content

Videos documenting rounds, reviewing gear, and sharing the ups and downs of real golf. Subscribe to follow along.

Honest Takes

No affiliate-driven hype, no miracle cures. Just genuine thoughts on what works, what doesn't, and what's worth your time and money as an amateur golfer.

My Golf Background

I came to golf later than most, transitioning from [insert your previous sport]. Started as a complete beginner and worked my way to a mid-handicap through practice, lessons, and a lot of trial and error.

I'm not a scratch golfer. I'm not a pro. I'm someone who fell in love with the game and wants to see how far I can realistically go — while keeping it enjoyable and representing how most people actually experience golf in the UK.

The Philosophy

Golf should be enjoyed for life, not just chased for numbers. Yes, improvement is great. Yes, lower scores are satisfying. But the real goal is to play good golf consistently, enjoy the journey, and embrace the game as it's meant to be played — outdoors, with friends, in all conditions.

This site is about:

Not about:
